What’s the best way to practice? What if I’m finding a song difficult?
Slow it down
Use Practice mode to slow songs down. This helps you to build the coordination you need, to play songs up to speed. With Auto tempo mode, Yousician reduces the speed to 50%, and then goes up or down depending on how you play. If that's too fast, you can move the slider down to 25%, or select Pause and play what's on screen at your own pace.
Practice in parts
Learn songs in parts; you can access them from the song start screen. The first part is unlocked, when you start a new song. You need to unlock the previous part, before you can move on to the next one. Once you've mastered all the parts, you can play the whole song. You can also access the whole song by selecting Practice or Play button on the song start screen.
It's also helpful to loop sections in Practice mode.
Move on, then cycle back
- "I always get gold stars before moving on."
- "I want to get to the next level asap."
These are problems because your skills don't have the time and variety needed to develop. Move to the next song when you can, and cycle back later for gold stars and high scores. This works, because you need time and variety to build skills, and review to keep them fresh.
