What’s the best way to practice? What if I’m finding a song difficult?
Slow it down.
Use Practice Mode to slow songs down. This will help you build the coordination you need to play songs up to speed.
In ‘Auto Speed’ mode, Yousician will drop the speed to 50%, then go up or down depending on how you play. If that's too fast, you can move the slider down to 25% speed, or hit ‘pause’ and play what's on screen at your own pace.
Practice small parts.
Learn songs in parts instead of choosing 'full song'. Then, once you've mastered each part you can try the whole song.
It's also helpful to loop short difficult sections in Practice Mode.
Move on, then cycle back.
Move ahead to the next song when you can, then cycle back later for gold stars and high scores. This works because you need time and variety to build skills, and review to keep them fresh.
- "I always get gold stars before moving on."
- "I want to get to the next level asap."
These are problems because your skills don't have the time and variety needed to develop. Instead, move on when you've got the idea, then cycle back later to build mastery and keep skills fresh.
